Don't leave an older pet outdoors too long especially if they are arthritic. The cold affects them just as much as us.

If you walk them in the snow, make sure you clean their paws because of all the chemicals used to get rid of snow and ice.
Pets burn more calories in the winter because of the cold so feed them a little more.I actually know this for a fact. My dogs don't eat much in the summer but they eat a lot more in the winter.
Oh yes and clear a spot for them in the yard if its full of snow where they can pee and poop better. I try to clear out my whole yard for them!
Don't treat them like kids when you are training them but as far as the cold what is good for you is good for your pet too!

Flea And Tick Problems

Summer is the hardest time of year for your pets. Not only do they have to deal with the heat but they have to deal with all those squirmy critters too. If you have a flea and tick problem I'll give you a few facts and remedies to deal with this problem. I don't recommend spraying your yard because dogs and cats tend to eat grass and other plants in your yard and also will get dirt on their pads and could get sick from the yard spray.
The first thing I would do is get rid of the fleas on my pets. Give your dog a bath, but not your cat. Cats don't like baths too much and they don't need it. Giving your dog a bath gets rid of a lot of the fleas on them. When you give your dog a bath make sure you use a plain dog shampoo not a flea shampoo because we don't want to double dose your pet. Make sure your pet is dry and then I recommend either Frontline Plus or Advantix or Revolution. These three work the best I promise you. I have six little dogs and believe me I know what works. Revolution is great because it also kills heartworms and other worms too. But you must be careful to get your pets tested for heartworm first and then you can use Revolution every month after that with no fear of getting your pets tested every month as long as you give them the Revolution every single month even in winter. Pests can hang around even in the winter months.
After your pets are all done now you must take care of your house. Vacum everything, rugs,
couches, chairs, anything that your pets sit on. Wash all blankets and pet beds every few days
until you get rid of the fleas. That includes your beds and blankets too. Then I would get a good
flea spray for the house, not the kind that go on your pets. There is a difference. If you don't have the money for a good spray then I recommend moth balls or moth ball flakes but you also have to be careful with these. Pets can eat them and get sick. I would put them wherever your pets can't get at them. I put them under all my furniture and in corners only if your pets don't go there.
Now that your pets are taking care of and your house is taken care of you should be pest free in about a couple of days believe me with six dogs I know what works. It's a good idea to keep giving your pets the flea treatments all year long especially the Revolution because of the heartworm medication. If you already give your pet a heartworm pill then you can just go with Frontline Plus or Advantix. Now your done and you can enjoy the summer with your pets.

Many people will give different types of answers based on their experience with their dogs. However, the scientific facts related to the feeding aspects in case of dogs need to be given emphasis during the feeding activities maintained in case of dogs.
Usually the puppies should not be separated before they are eight weeks old. However, some times the orphaned puppies may exist. Usually about five percent of the body weight may be taken as criteria for the quantity of food to be given to the puppies. However, the amount that is consumed by the dog varies with size of the dogs also.
However, one can have a thumb rule of feeding the puppy goes until you see visible fullness of the abdomen to a moderate degree. If you are going on feeding the animal without giving emphasis to the animal’s stomach appearance, then the puppy may experience some kinds of digestive upsets and the diarrhea may occur in them.
This may cause many inconveniences to the owner as well as the puppy. Unlike adult dogs, the puppies need to be fed with restricted amounts of food but in more frequencies. However, once the age advances, the amount may be increased to some extent but the frequency of feeding is often decreased in many occasions.
A dog on a raw diet may consume only two to four percent of their body weight. Just observe closely the feeding pattern of the dog and the body condition of the animal. A lot of people think that cats work on their own agenda, not paying much attention to their owner – provided they have clean litter, food, and water. Cats can behave in odd manners at times, which can easily confuse their owners and make it really hard to determine what the cat wants. As much as cat behavior can be confusing, there are some ways that you can solve common cat behavior mysteries.
A common behavior that almost all cats do is push their heads into any type of object that will allow them to do it. You’ve probably seen your cat do this before, probably against table legs, TV stands, or another object. This can be noticed more when you have other people who own animals or those with allergies over at your house. When a cat notices this, he will rub his head against the person. In doing so, he will put a touch of saliva on the individual. In a cat’s mind, he owns what he puts his saliva on.
By putting his saliva on something, that object or person will have a familiar scent. Although this can be very annoying, you have to understand that other people in your home are seen as odd or weird to your cat. When a cat does this, he is simply trying to make the visitor belong. When he brushes up against them and puts his saliva on them, he is trying to put his scent on them – which in his mind will mean that they belong in his territory.
Even though marking someone or something with saliva is beneficial to the cat, saliva is one of the most common forms of pet allergies. When someone wipes the saliva off of them, the scent will be gone and the cat will go back and attempt to do it again. Even though it may appear that cats target those with allergies, cats are actually just trying to make the visitor belong at the house. If the guest simply cannot take the saliva, allow the cat to rub himself on their pants leg a few times. Normally, this is all takes for a cat to leave the person alone.
